[TRANS] 101015 Japan Avex CEO masatomatsuura’s tweet about JYJ is creating a commotion

TVXQ’s members, Micky YooCheon, Xiah Junsu, Hero JaeJoong signed a contract with CJes Entertainment and there by forming JYJ. On the 12th, they mark the start of their first World Tour Showcase at GoRyo University. After the end of the showcase, on the 13th, masatomatsuura posted a tweet at his twitter page saying “I opened my heart and spoke to them but I was betrayed like nothing happened. It’s important to have trust. Especially when you’re in such an industry, trust is a must. I had wished that I can speak of the matters someday.” Adding on he tweeted “Losing is winning. Even it is so now, someday things will change. The strength that allows me to endure such humiliation is perseverance and training. Someday, I will tell these stuck-ups off. Because I will not lose in the end. I’m just talking to myself.” And he added, “If there’s no pain, it’s not interesting.”

For JYJ fans who have seen those messages, they replied harsh messages like “I start to hate Japan.”, “JYJ is so pitiful”, “Bad guy” [this word is not very pleasant in Korean.] But masatomatsuura replied saying “You’ll get your retribution.” “Please be careful of what you say.” With that, a fight of resentment has started.

AVEX has expressed on the 16th sept that because of the law issues that CJes is involved in and the on-going contract issues with SME, AVEX has used these reasons to express that they will stop JYJ’s activities in Japan. With that JYJ expressed on 17th Sep that “we have no intentions to stop our activities in Japan and we had abided with all our contract terms faithfully. But from a few months back onwards, AVEX has started to stress that the contract terms were unreasonable and one-sidedly decided to stop the contract and even issued released news saying that we will be stopping our activities.”

[TRANS] 100916 Official Avex Press Release

The Korean company currently responsible for managing JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's activities in Japan is C-jeS CO.LTD. It was reported that the legal representative of this company has been taking advantage of his father's previous status as a gang leader to threaten and coerce the artists under its label. He has already been has been found guilty of, and sentenced to prison on charges of coercion. With regards to the allegations mentioned above, Avex has conducted thorough investigation, and whilst there is no legitimate evidence to prove for certain that the said legal representative has links with the mafia, reports on threats and coercion were found to be true.

At the same time, there is a possibility that JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN's contract with Avex may be voided as a result of developments in their Korean exclusive contract lawsuit.

Avex holds heavy regard for both the legal and ethical implications of its management guidelines, thus until a clear resolution has been found, we will discontinue our management of the trio's activities.

To fans who have continued to support JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHN, we would like to express our apologies for the concern and apprehension this news must have brought you, but we hope that you will understand the decisions we have made.

There will be no changes in our plans for scheduled releases and ongoing activities. Similarly, no changes will be made to the contract we have negotiated with SM Entertainment for Tohoshinki's activities as a 5 member unit. Avex will continue to work towards the comeback of Tohoshinki, just as we have done in the past.

[TRANS] 100513 Avex's Balance Sheet for Q1, Tohoshinki's Best Album Sold 700,000 Copies

Major music company Avex Group Holdings released their balance sheet on the 13th showing that they have made a profit of 800 million yen (≈$8.6 milllion) in the first quarter of 2010 (compared to a loss of 900 million yen in the previous quarter). Their total sales were 118.1 billion yen (≈$1.3 billion), indicating a growth of 0.3%. On the other hand, their operating profits showed an incline of 14.1% and brought in 5.5 billion yen (≈$59 million).

There weren't many releases from their major artists, but the stable profits they acquired from selling concert tickets, etc. guaranteed their business. On the other hand, because of the need of expenses to promote and advertise for their new businesses, their operating profits decreased.

In the first quarter, they only has one million-hit CD, which is EXILE's album "Ai Subeki Mirai he" and it has sold 1.46 million copies so far. Tohoshinki and Amuro Namie are up next, and each artist's best album has sold approximately 700,000 copies so far.

It is estimated that in the first quarter of 2011, Avex will experience a decrease of 0.1% in total sales which still bring in 118 billion yen (≈$1.2 billion); but their operating profits will increase 52.7% which will bring them 8.5 billion yen (≈$92 million). It is expected that their total profits will increase approximately 4.1 times and bring in 4 billion yen (≈$43 million).

[TRANS] 100405 More Than 6,000 Emails Sent to avex to Support Tohoshinki

On the 4th, just one day after the news broke that popular Korean quintet Tohoshinki is going to take an indefinite break, a flood of more than 6,000 emails were sent to the website of Bigeast, their official fanclub.

According to avex, their record company, most emails have similar contents such as "I'm waiting for the 5 of them to come back together" and "Please continue the fanclub". There are also emails coming from Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The fans' reaction upon receiving the news is calmer than expected. Moreover, because this time it is not "disbandment" but "a suspension of activities", there are a lot of people who are waiting for the day of their return together as a group.

According to their fans, "The fanclub is the place that they can return to together," and some fans have already energetically started activities for the continuation of the fanclub. On Internet bulletin boards, fans are posting messages calling for others to send emails to the executive officers to ask for the continuation of the fanclub. Similar activities are also going on on various blogs. In addition, some fans are also calling out for a project to send supporting letters simultaneously to the members.

On the other hand, scriptwriter Kitagawa Eriko (48), a big fan of Tohoshinki, expressed her feelings on her blog, "I feel very sorry". However, she also wrote, "I understand your solitary, your pain and your feelings but this is what I think. Their happiness should come first" and "People should not live for others. People should live for themselves," expressing her opinion about this difficult decision.

ISSA from DA PUMP, a group from their record label, said, "In our early days, we also had changes in our members, but it couldn't be helped because each person has things that each wants to accomplish" and gave them an encouraging message, "Since they're doing their best, I hope they'll be able to do their activities at various fields."

[NEWS] 100121 First Time Ever! Splendid Achievement!

TVXQ, First Male Group To Be The Cover Page of JJ's 35 Year History!

Credit: Avex
(Edited by myan)

First Time Ever!! Male Group To Be The Cover Page of JJ!

The group who has the top-class popularity not only in Korea but also in Japan prepared a big surprise for their fans.

A treasure shot of the five members wearing a black and a gray suit gathering together, appearing in a cool expression will be on a cover of the woman fashion magazine "JJ" in March 2010.

*Their cover may appear at JJ site on January 23rd.JJ normally provides a free download of the front page here: http://jj-m.jp/download.html (Oooh. Now, I can't wait to see the cover)

It is the first splendid achievement in history for a male group to appear in JJ woman's magazine. Usually, woman celebrities or contracted models decorate the cover of this magazine which will be greeting their 35th periodical foundation anniversary.

The first page gravure for eight pages carries TVXQ in the space too. It also presents "100 questions and 100 answers" that a member openly confesses from their work to their private life, also an autographed photograph, not to mention individual photographs, on top of that, there are more appendix plans to please fans all fully packed in this edition.

According to the person who is in charge of the planning department of Kobunsha, when JJ featured serialization of TVXQ from March through May last year, the responses by the readers were splendid; they planned to print "TVXQ cover & the first page, a special surprise edition".

They continued offering their idea to TVXQ from last summer, and it finally managed to reach the realization. The person in charge said, "It includes articles of the private questions which all fans wanted to know. We represented fans and cross fired them with tons of questions."

The photography and the interview were performed in a studio in Tokyo at the end of December last year. They had a full schedule to perform at NHK Red and White Singing Contest and also for the preparation of the record grand prix award, but the interview time exceeded the original plan, as all five members were eager to answer them together, and so it became a spot where it was filled with the laughter.

-part omitted-

Their new song "BREAK OUT!" will appear on January 27th. And they will release their first best album "BEST SELECTION 2010" on February 17.

-part omitted-

Their activities will attract our attention more and more in the future.

[TRANS] 100106 Three Options for TVXQ by My Daily

(T/N: Please keep in mind that this is just an article by MyDaily Korea. The three options are NO ONE's official stand, but only options that are viewed by MyDaily to be possible endings for TVXQ's legal case from all the facts/rumors gathered)

This article is also at dnbn (for you loyal dnbn followers), but still in private mode, or maybe will be deleted

(An excerpt from article MyDaily Korea)

Ever since 3 TVXQ members Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu filed an application disposition to terminate their exclusive contract effect, the future of TVXQ is not yet resolved. For all TVXQ fans who wish the group not to be disbanded, this ongoing period is sure a stuffy situation.

However from the recent happenings about this group, seems that there are three possible choices TVXQ may needs to choose in the future.

1. The expiration contract with AVEX in following June and a farewell concert which will be their last concert both in Japan and Korea (we all know the farewell concert is from Sports Nippon article. MyDaily also put the official stand from both AVEX and SM which denied this, but to see the fact TVXQ contract does actually expire in June, this option is seen as possible).

2. Since now the name of Dong Bang Shin Ki is owned by SM, so there’s a chance that the group will continue to work separately as 3:2 team in Korea, however for activities in Asian market including Japan, they’ll team up as five members to work together.

3. The option that most of TVXQ fans wish, having a final reconciliation and a dramatic agreement.

Since SM Entertainment has always been saying, “We want the 3 TVXQ members to return, and let’s having a frank talk together.”, there’s always a chance for both parties to be able to form an amicable settlement before any legal decision shall be made. This is indeed what the fans desperately wish for.

Note from editor: sorry for my laziness to translate the whole article, I’m too sleepy… but this is the main point.

[TRANS] 090826 Avex Press Release

T/N: I know that this has been released a while ago, but since I believe that not all of you have read this or have had time to track back to this; O! Japanese translators decided to translate this article again and we took care of every word to make sure that this translation conveys Avex's statement accurately. We have checked back Avex website time to time, and their statement has not changed since August, so this is the current official stand of Avex regarding this issue.

----------

Regarding Tohoshinki
August 6th, 2008
AVEX Entertainment Co. Ltd.

Regarding Tohoshinki

The three members of Tohoshinki, Junsu, Jaejoong, and Yoochun, have filed an application for a provisional suspension of the effects of their exclusive contract against their company, S.M.Entertainment Co.Ltd. (Headquarters: Seoul, South Korea), to the Korean court. Regarding this matter, the three members said, "This provisional suspension application does not imply that Tohoshinki will disband by any means."

S.M.Entertainment Co.Ltd. also stated, "Tohoshinki is not as such that belongs to an individual or a corporation; but rather, it is a group that represents Korea, as well as Asia. For that reason, we would like to have Tohoshinki's activities to be continued." Based on their statements, both parties expressed that they do not wish for Tohoshinki's disbandment.

Regarding the continuation of Tohoshinki's activities in Japan, our company has also received a response from S.M.Entertainment Co.Ltd. that said, "Basically, the (three) members and their law firm both desire to continue their activities in Japan."

We would like to apologize to everyone for all the worries and troubles that this has caused. We will continue to do our very best to support Tohoshinki's activities in Japan, just the same way as we had done until now, so please continue to warmly support and watch over them.

[NEWS] 091126 'What Tohoshinki Can Do' A News From Korean Media

Tohoshinki, as they are called in Japan, is set to resume their activities in the country, according to reports. According to Japanese media including "Daily Sports", the group is set to appear on Nihon TV's year-end awards ceremony "Best Hit Festival 2009" on November 26. They proved they remain a force to be reckoned with, being nominated for the Gold Artist Award alongside top Japanese singers including EXILE and Koda Kumi. TVXQ has also decided to show up at Fuji TV's "FNS Kayousai 2009" on December 2 and have also been juggling their schedule to make appearances on NHK's "Kohaku Uta Gassen", translated into "Red and White Song Battle", and other year-end music ceremonies.

After Japanese media quoted Korean reports saying the group may be on the verge of disbanding over legal disputes, TVXQ's fans in Japan had been as worried as fans in Korea over what lies in the future for one of Asia's most popular boy bands. NHK broadcast a rerun of an episode featuring the group in its music program "Music Japan" upon receiving endless requests from viewers. And Ishihara, producer for the program and also executive producer for NHK's "Kohaku", wrote on his blog, "I know many of you TVXQ fans out there must feel insecure in many ways these days. I really hope this rerun makes you happy and we hope to be able to make a second TVXQ special in the near future."

Meanwhile, TVXQ's Japanese agency Avex reaffirmed its stance it announced on August 6, saying it will continue to carry out full-fledged support of the group's activities in Japan. Other than making TV appearances, the band is also set to release their 29th single "BREAK OUT!" in Japan on January 27 next year. But fans will get to hear the lively dance tune ahead of the single's release, as it will be the theme song to NHK's Thursday night drama "Tomehane! Suzusato High School, Calligraphy Club" premiering January 7. TVXQ also plans to meet with fans thereafter, starting with Kobe between January 19 to 20, a week later in Sendai and on the two last days of the month in Yokohama.
