TVXQ member Kim JaeJoong has attracted much attention through his recent Japanese drama series 'Sunao ni Narenakute' with his fluent Japanese skill.

JaeJoong is currently in the Fuji TV drama series 'Sunao ni Narenakute' where he portrays a salesman for a company that sells medical equipment. He has received lot of compliments for a language skill that is almost at the same level as of those who have Japanese as their mother tongue.

The comments by most of the Japanese viewers who watch 'Sunao ni Narenakute' expressed, "As compared to TVXQ's language skill when they first debuted in Japan, the improvement of JaeJoong’s Japanese is really shocking."

The ‘Today Star News’ which was aired on 29th of May praised JaeJoong that, "His fluent Japanese is not the least bit inferior to the other Japanese actors."

An insider expressed that five years ago during TVXQ's debut activities, JaeJoong can only use the basic Japanese to communicate, his ability described as 'barely enough for communication.' However, the JaeJoong today is able to express himself freely in daily conversation, and he has improved tremendously.

Now, the past comment of "JaeJoong's acting in 'Sunao ni Narenakute' is relatively indifferent" has been replaced by "Even with influential Japanese actors or actresses like Ueno Juri, he is able to perform well without any inferior or retrogress" kind of remarks.

When I went to visit TVXQ's leader U-Know Yunho on the 24th, it was drizzling as I made my way to my destination. It was weather that seemed to match the 'Musician's Choice' theme he had chosen for the week which was "Music to listen to on a rainy day". He, who had been waiting in front of the SM Entertainment office, happily welcomed this writer. Wearing casual clothes, he smiled brightly and said, "I feel good because it's raining outside."

"Rainy days are times for me to reflect on myself. Other friends usually go drinking on days like this, but I drive my car to an arboretum or I choose some good music to listen to."

When asked about his recent activities, he brought up his photoshoot first. "I went to Hong Kong for a photoshoot, and it was nice to have a personal interview as I was partaking in the photoshoot. I've always been showing people the bright side of myself, but I never really had the chance to talk about personal things." We were curious of his next solo venture. U-Know Yunho said, "I don't want to let go of the music life that I've had for the past 5, 6 years and I've also been considering upgrading my acting skills." He also said, "What I want to say the most is that I want to challenge the limits I've set on myself from more than one side."

It was a surprise yet understandable to see U-Know Yunho, who admired Michael Jackson, create a music list that consisted of songs with sad or solitary melodies rather than dance-orientated songs. Also, seeing such a list gave us a feel of his extensive musical taste from Rock to New Age.

"I usually listen to music while I'm on the move. I don't discriminate between genres; if I like the feel of a song, I'll get it and put it in my playlist right away. At times when I feel like I'm going to explode, I sometimes listen to heavy metal music, and when my body's exhausted, I listen to calm instrumentals. However, it can be said that the music I'm introducing today conveys what I'm feeling these days."

U-Know Yunho's dream is to be the founder of a welfare center. Influenced by his father who enjoys helping those in need, he is actively seeking out voluntary service activities he can do to help the poor and needy. He usually makes people feel flustered with his clipped tone and short yet strong accent which he may have inherited from being the group's leader since his debut, but he slowly yet surely opened up in this interview with a softer tone and deep breaths. His words "I've matured as much as I've been hurt," seemed to approach the writer more sincerely than ever.

"Two years ago, there was a time when I listened to all the CDs our fans sent us. This was one of the albums in that pile of CDs and I was immediately hooked. Although there are a lot of instruments involved, there is a sound that isn't lost, and it's the sound of nature. That sound seemed to just grab my heart. There wasn't a distinct melody, but shall I say that the tune was able to express everything that it needed to? From then on, I searched for this artiste online and listened to his songs whenever it rained. The guitar part is the prettiest in this album. Most guitar parts from other sources rely on strength or technique, but the guitar in this album isn't overused and you can tell that the singer tried to keep the sound as close to the sound of nature as possible. I felt like the guitar part represented his heart and his feelings. It has a calm yet mysterious feeling to it."

"One of the songs called 'Return to Love' is a very famous song that is used in dramas and CFs, and all the songs included in this album calm your heart. I think I listen to this song the most when I feel depressed. It cleanses your heart, but it also has a sad and sorrowful feel to it. I first found out about the song in the drama [Autumn in my Heart]. After that, I listened to it a ridiculous number of times. I found myself hearing it a lot even when I hadn't turned it on myself. I heard it on the streets, I heard it at home, I heard it in the cafes... It's a song that I've heard so much that it's left a great impact in my life. Sometimes, I think that I'd like to try this kind of music one day. Like taking this music and formatting it by adding narration to it or commentary through DJ-ing?"

"I first found out about Kim Hyun Shik's music through the voices of Kim Bum Soo and Yu Jae Ha. I liked the songs so much that I practiced them a lot for a while. I thought that I needed to be familiar with the original to do so, so that was when I found the artiste Kim Hyun Shik. The song that first caught my eye was 'Eclipsed Road'. I've said before that I like singers like Michael Bolton or Lim Jae Bum, and Kim Hyun Shik's voice was just what I wanted. It wasn't pure and clear, and the charm that came from his thick and burning voice struck a chord in my heart. I usually listen to this album on a rainy day right before I sleep. You can find its true charm if you listen to it then."

"They are one of my favorite artistes. In 9th or 10th grade, I had a cousin who played the bass guitar, and she was a fan of this group. I began to like rock music because of her. But these artistes' music didn't feel like rock. More so in 'Endless Rain'. This song really captures that feeling of singing with a heart full of longing, and I think that, that is the true charm of X-JAPAN. I like their songs because they both appeal and don't appeal to the masses. I want to follow their example of being a genius, yet striving to always be one step ahead of trends. I think this song's mixture of Eastern and Western influences contain all the charms that the band holds."

"Sometimes, I like to go jogging when it rains, and I listen to this album a lot when I do. It might be because I'm the bass part in our team, but I find myself paying a lot of attention to that part. Their style is a little different from BoyzIIMen, but the bass part is so amazing that it feels like they're playing with their musical ranges. The part doesn't lose its focus, but it leads the other parts like the melody. This music is great for when I go jogging or when I'm enjoying a glass of wine. The music itself doesn't feel very sophisticated, that may be exactly why I'm attracted to it. I think people will like this music if they like harmonies. I also feel that men will enjoy this music more than women."

XIAH junsu debuted with an image of a sexy and mature man; what does he want to express through the album “XIAH”?

Using the sale of his solo album on 26th May as a starting point, XIAH junsu’s activities has officially began!

Regarding this work, JunSu has been assessed to be much more mature than before and as to what JunSu himself thinks, we will reveal it to everyone in the details of our interview below.

“Expressing the sexy and sorrowful side of men at the same time”

XIAH junsu’s solo activities has started. As news of this spread, it has instantly caught the attention of Japan.

At that time, the sole question on every fan’s heart had been, for a multi-talented artiste who possess an unsurpassable ability in both vocals and in stage performances, what will he bring to us when he goes solo? We find the answer to this question in the album “XIAH”.

Firstly, I personally like the first track “Intoxication”, which fully expresses the R&B style of the aura of a sexy, mature and charming man. This is one of the interludes included in BeeTV’s television drama ““Beautiful Love~只要有你”, starring fellow group member Yuchun as the main lead. This track is also self-composed and arranged by JunSu himself.

“As a solo [artiste] this time, I wanted to try out the R&B style of African American music. Even though the style differs from what I have been doing, I wanted to express a sexy and mature side to everyone, and this song aptly does that. I am very pleased with the parts where we used the stringed instrument and guitar for accompaniment; while displaying the sexiness of a man, it also brings out a slightly sad side. I think this track is probably the track to listen to.”

Taking into consideration the integration of the track, JunSu’s view of wanting to increase the proportion of English lyrics was also adopted. Furthermore, JunSu also exuded a unique charm while expressing the international language.

“We also emphasized on the rhyme in the line ‘Going to find your secret honey’. As for this song, as it is a R&B-styled song, we paid a lot more attention to the melody and rhythm. The final recording was completed after making a lot of improvements while making the song challenging at the same time.”

Through the PV, we can really see and call that a real charming dance.

“For this track, the dance for the chorus was already planned out while we were in the midst of composing, so [the track] was produced based on the image of the dance moves. That’s why you can perceive parts of the dance moves in the song. Even though it is not a very intense atmosphere, and there is a sense of hesitation, it is still quite dashing on the whole.”

“While I presented a Western-like R&B style of music, I also wanted a ballad where everyone could experience a sense of sadness.”

This album also includes the theme song of BeeTV’s television drama “Beautiful Love~只要有你~”, “君がいれば～Beautiful Love～”. A world that belongs to XIAH junsu is described through a different style, which at the same time allows the listeners to feel thoroughly involved.

JunSu’s masterpiece “悲しみのゆくえ(Kanashimi no Yukue)”, which is available only in this CD version, has also been selected to be the theme song of another of BeeTV’s television drama “[5年后のラブレター] (Love Letters From 5 Years Later)”. “While I presented a Western-like R&B style of music, I also wanted a ballad where everyone could experience a sense of sadness. There is no strong rhythm throughout this entire song, nor any accompaniment, only the interpretation through a single voice. By this, there is a more realistic interpretation of a man’s inner fragility. Personally I really like the line that goes ‘Happiness to me, compared to an end, a change will cause more loneliness’ because I really empathize with it. I hope that when everyone listens to this song, they will recall a past love that they once had.”

In addition, JunSu, JaeJung and Yuchun, who are currently developing their respective talents, will, as a unit, launch their first “JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME” event. We believe the trio’s power will be unstoppable in Japan.

With opportunity, luck and confidence accompanying [me], I would like to challenge all sorts of things.”

DBSK’s leader, Yunho, challenged the role of the main lead in the youthful romantic comedy [No Limit~ Heading To The Ground~] for his acting debut. As an artiste, he states his reason behind challenging this work.

When I saw the script, my thinking was that even if it’s going to be very tough, I will still very much want to act out this character. I felt the main lead’s character was very similar to mine; no matter what obstacles he may face, he still believed in himself and would work hard to overcome the obstacles.

The character that he is portraying is Cha Bong Gun, a passionate soccer player, someone who would go all out to reach his goal.

Bong Gun, who was initially very rash and wild, later meets a lot of people, and with their support, he starts to change and in the process of it, mature. While I was portraying his character, I also felt that I had grown along with him. When the filming ended, even up still today, the character of Bong Gun is still alive within me.

He also spoke about how if there were to be anymore good productions from here on, he would continue the path of being an actor.

If I were to suddenly say “I like acting more!”, it would probably be a lie (laughs). But, I do feel a different type of attraction [to acting] as compared to music, so as an actor, I would want to improve myself further. My goal would be to be like Johnny Depp. To be able to act out different types of characters and possess different images, and be loved by everyone, be it a man or woman, young or old, is really no mean feat.

You seem to be interested in Japanese television dramas.

Aren’t those romance dramas that are emotionally-evoking very popular in Japan (laughs)? That’s why I want to try to act out a character that is very emotional. If I could work with Takako Matsu, that would be good. I have watched both “Love Generation” and “Hero”. I was really attracted to the parts where it was intellectual yet sexy at the same time.

Speaking of soccer, you seem to be anticipating the World Cup, which will start on 11 June.

I like it when everyone is passionately cheering while watching the match. I am definitely very passionate about it~ (laughs) I even went over to Germany four years ago to watch the match live. I like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In Japan, I like Hidetoshi Nakata, who has already retired. I hope both the Japan and Korea teams will do their best.

As your fans, they would probably be watching out for your every move…

I am quite cautious, so I won’t force myself to do something that I’m not willing to. However, with opportunity, luck and confidence accompanying [me], I would like to challenge all sorts of things If I were to do anything next time, please look forward to it (laughs).

[TRANS] 100525 Is Tohoshinki Japan’s Top Star?

In the beginning of May, the reporter who was on a two-month plus vacation did a research on Korean idols while vacationing in Japan. Even though there was only a week’s duration, the reporter still did his/her best to carry out interviews. Fortunately, there were two Korean idol groups who travelled in and out of Japan during that period. Hence, it was a good opportunity to interview Japan’s audio-visual workers and visit their studio at the same time. Also, the reporter got to hear about the interesting happenings that took place in the operations of special concerts in Japan. Most importantly, the reporter was able to see for him/herself how Korean idols are perceived when they fly in and out of Japan for promotional activities. Even though it had been a while since the vacation had ended, the impressions and memories were still etched deep within his/her mind. Perhaps a lot of fans would like to know where the Korean idols stand in Japan, and that is what we are going to report to everyone now.

Arashi? Tohoshinki?

One of the burning questions on every Korean fan’s mind is: what is THSK’s actual status in Japan and are they included in the league of “TOP Star”, just like how they are in Korea? In reference to this question, we consulted one of Japan’s musicians, and his answer was not what we had expected. He revealed a “why-do-you-ask-such-a-weird-question” expression before replying, “We have never compared Arashi and Tohoshinki. These two groups are Japan’s TOP Star, and they are incomparable because of the differences in their style.”

Japan’s entertainment market is definitely different from Korea’s. If the style or the market development is different, it will be unreasonable to compare or compete. Compared to Korea, where major entertainment companies would always compete against each other, most of Japan’s entertainment companies develop their own market by improving on and enriching their personal style and field [of expertise]. Similarly, when asked about Kara and 4Minute, who were recently introduced into Japan, the reply was that “both groups had their distinctive characteristics and thus were not perceived to be rivals”. They also expressed that they were unable to understand Korea’s concept of putting up idol groups against each other for competition and for comparative analysis. Thereafter, they confidently affirmed that THSK’s standing in Japan were that of TOP Star, similar to Arashi’s (the ranking is not important).

It is very easy to fully appreciate the popularity of THSK. Their albums are always the ones on display in Japan’s famous music and video stores, and it is very easy to spot THSK fans who are always there to look for their albums.

A Korean staff from the entertainment world, who often flies in and out of Japan, gave THSK a very high standard of evaluation, then added that if it was not for THSK, current Korean idol groups will never be able to officially enter the Japanese market as easily as they do now. Korea’s entertainment market and sector started developing slightly later, especially in the idol market targeted towards youths, who are extremely sensitive to the current trends. Therefore, for Korean idols to be able to reach such a high standard of evaluation as they do now, much of the contribution belongs to THSK and the huge impact that they have made.

The change that has been made in order to express the song properly and the dream of continuing to sing

A single that I have released as a singer that wants to show off a new side

Moving towards a new stage with the name, Xiah Junsu. As a singer that never stops moving forward, in the solo single "Xiah", he showcases music that contains the American R&B style as well as ballads that have a story line to it. "Being different from the usual Junsu, I have decided to use Xiah as the title. I also hope that everyone will be able to see a new me, as a singer. Although I, too, participated in the production of the song but it is the act of singing on the stage that makes me happiest. This time, just like how I've added dance tunes, it is made for the purpose of performing it on the stage. I really cannot wait to perform in front of everyone.

"悲しみのゆくえ" is a sad song. "As compared to a happy ending, it is the change in happiness that makes me hurt", this song is about a love that has changed. Although, as a male, we will have times where we become soft-hearted and feel uncertain, we will always want to hide this side of us. However, in "Intoxication", it is about the passion and perfect side that males want to show. These are 2 songs that are the direct opposite of each other. One singing about the inner self that a male wants to hide, the other singing about the outer appearance that the male wants to show.

"Then, which side of a male would you want to show, Junsu?" When he was asked this question, Junsu used very powerfully answered, "one who knows how to take care of another. Not just to girls but I always hope that I can become someone that will show sincere care for another one no matter who the other person is."

"I have never liked a girl just because of her looks If we're talking about her appearance, I would like a girl that has a similar style to me. If we're talking about her character, I would like a girl that puts in all her effort and continues to strive, whether it is for work or for her personal hobbies or interests. No matter how small the thing is, she will still use all her effort to head towards a certain direction. This kind of girl is very charming. Japanese females, to me, are fresh and bright. I think this is because they are very sincere to the things that they want to do. No matter how old they are, they will always try their best to doll themselves up whether it is in terms of make-up or their style of fashion. When you like a singer, you'll always attend their concerts etc. right? In Korea, they pay a lot of attention to the difference in age however the Japanese females will always have that young teenage girl self in them no matter how old they are and I think that is very charming."

Gathered his own friends to form a soccer team?

Junsu, who is talking about "girls who always put in effort", is currently in love with soccer. Because just like how he loves music, he loves things that can make his body active. "Recently, I seem to be slacking a little in terms of training my muscles (laugh) but I really love sports. In Korea, I would always either play soccer or baseball once every two weeks. This seems to be my first time talking about this. In reality, this summer, I've formed a soccer cum baseball team with my friends but everyone seems to not care about it. (Laugh) Previously, we separated into teams, "Young Korean artistes team" and "Singers team" and played a match. We got a goal and we won but because it is the first time after 5 years, it's really hard to find the standard that we had 5 years ago during our high school period. It's really regretful... I seem to have no end talking about this. (Laugh) If it's soccer, girls all find it boring right?

[NEWS] Amazingly Popular! TVXQ XIAH Junsu, 12,000 Hot Enthusiasms of His First Solo Live

Popular group TVXQ member, XIAH Junsu (Kim Junsu) on May 22th had his solo debut stage under a fashion and music festival event held in Japan’s largest park Yoyogi First Gymnasium, the “Girls Award 2010″, performing his first solo live. The live was opened by Kuroki Meyisa, who announced three lives among several highlights of the event such as the comeback stage of Erika (Sawajiri), and the first high roar among audiences was heard later on. Even when there were only a vision of pre-images, screams like “Kyaaa~!!” and “Junsu!!!” were heard, enthusiasm suddenly heated into the circle of 12,000 audiences.

While some of the fans’ excitement was close to hysterical, after Junsu finished one number, he greeted the audiences, “Good evening! I’m Xiah Junsu. Today I’m really happy I could participate in “Girls Award 2010″. he said, “Do everyone feel excited?” and it definitely added even more fuel to the fans, it was a climax that made so many staffs had to move hurriedly to secure the stage, “Please do not take pictures!” such scene was noted.

XIAH Junsu performed two songs at the event, ‘Intoxication’ from his upcoming single release on the 26th “XIAH” which will also becomes the insert song of a drama starring another TVXQ member Yuchun “Beautiful Love ~Kimi ga ireba~” (starts to broadcast at BeeTV on June 4th), and ‘XIAHTIC’, Junsu’s solo song that was priorly recorded in TVXQ 29th single “BREAK OUT!”. Xiah Junsu Describes His “Ideal Girl”

As an artiste, Junsu has an outstanding vocal ability and dance skills, and to top it off, he has a charisma that will make not just Japan, but the entire world go crazy for him.

“I wish to express my thoughts as much as I can through my actions. That is because I feel, even though it may seem cliché, that if I don’t do it well, it could affect others. I thought of getting married before turning 27 years old previously, but it looks like I may have to push it back to when I am 30 years old.”

External appearance is not as important as having the heart to work hard and to fight for what is important.

Junsu is termed as Asia’s “Wonder Kid” due to his outstanding stage presence, and his ability to capture the hearts of countless fans with his laughing gags. During the interview, he answered in Japanese very seriously, and sometimes he would go off into a daze in an innocent and adorable manner. Other times, he would liven up the atmosphere through interesting tunes and dance moves. Such a sincere 23-year-old Junsu has a pretty surprising take on love. “My marriage partner must be someone who is very passionate towards her work or anything else. I find a woman who can face anything actively and positively very attractive. Also, she must be very polite towards the elders!” How about the external appearance? “I don’t really have any special opinions on that, but if I must choose one, I would probably be those type who, once I have liked someone, I would like everything else about her. Even though I used to date a girl whom I have liked, right now… Although my experience in dating is lesser, I have matured a lot through those experiences. If I were to date a girl right now, I would probably ask myself much more frequently than before if I really love her. I will only date someone whom I really like.”

My relationship with my father is similar to that of friends, we would talk about a lot of topics and he is my teacher in the area of love.

My work now is not just about myself, but it is also for my family in the future. Even though I plan to get married before I turn 27, now when I think about it, I am not sure if it is a little too early (laughs). A well-known author in Korea once said, “Girls, you must cherish yourself, a man who truly loves himself, would put his life into the hands of a woman who affirms him, and such a marriage is the most blissful.” After having heard these words, there was suddenly a bit more understanding. The same author also said, “Even in a marriage filled with love, it can at most go on for three years.” But don’t worry, after creating more moments and memories upon the foundation of love, whatever feelings that exist will become deeper. In order to keep true love, you must have a grateful heart, and I feel that is most important.

The “Plea for Reconciliation Signature Campaign” among Cassiopeia, DBSK’s Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu, Youngwoong JaeJoong and SM Entertainment (otherwise known as SM) has officially begun.

A DBSK fan from Japan spoke on the afternoon on the 21st on minitoday star news, expressing that, “For the DBSK whom we have cared about and supported so much, the online signature campaign asking for a negotiation of settlement between DBSK’s trio and SM has begun.”

The association also mentioned, “With an 80,000 strong fan club membership, and such a large-scale fan daum, when faced with the crisis of a sudden dissolution of DBSK, nothing brings more anguish to the fans than this issue. We hope the three members and SM will be able to settle their differences and have a successful negotiation, so that DBSK’s activities can resume.”

There are the Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English versions on the website of the signature campaign. This campaign is not just limited to local fans in Korea, but international DBSK fans are also allowed to participate!

This campaign was started based on the unconditional trust placed upon the numerous fans of DBSK, along with a minority of fans who may have a different thinking and opinion.

The purpose of initiating this campaign is not to ask for a termination of the contract of the three members, but to get them and SM to coordinate for a more sensible solution.

In addition, based on the first public trial between the three members and SM company held on the 7th, if both sides still remains unchanged in their stand, the differences between them will still not be resolved.

DBSK’s three members had submitted an application of deposition to the Seoul Central District Court on 31st July 2009 regarding the termination of the exclusive contract with SM.

Furtheremore, the following part of the decision cited the Department on 27th October 2009 that “SM is not allowed to stop DBSK’s activities unilaterally. SM’s objection regarding the solo activities of DBSK was also rejected.”

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, starring Micky Yoochun and Song Joong Gi, is expected to become another Hallyu drama.

A representative of ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ stated, “We haven’t even started filming yet but we are getting requests for pre-sales overseas.” Many see this as the ‘Micky Yoochun effect’ as TVXQ is a solid star not only in Japan, but all across Asia.

This representative also stated, “The flood of interest makes us happy but also puts a lot of pressure on us,” and “We will work hard to make this a great production.”

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ is a youthful traditional drama that is loosely based off the bestseller ‘The Lives of SungKyunKwan Confusian Scholars”. Micky Yoochun and Song Joong Gi have currently been cast as members of the Joseon Dynasty Quartet, and casting is currently being wrapped up for the other roles.

On the other hand, ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ will begin airing on KBS during the second half of the year and will begin filming in late May.

The drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, which is scheduled to air in Korea later this year, has already been pre-sold to Japan.

Raemong Raein, the production company of ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, stated, “On the 18th, we decided to pre-sell the drama to Avex Entertainment, Japan’s best entertainment agency and a reliable distribution enterprise, for 120,000 USD per episode with a total of 3.3 billion Won (approximately 2.8 million USD).”

As it is rare for a drama to be pre-sold at such premium standards even before it begins to air domestically, this proves Micky Yoochun’s popularity in Japan as well the fact that Japan has recognized the drama’s exceptional planning and publicity.

When news broke out that Micky Yoochun would play a leading role in ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, the great interest in the drama was apparent when the Japanese media fought to get coverage on the news.

He had received a lot of help from the seniors who are acting with him” and “because the words and tone used in the drama differs from modern day conversation, he has been spending more time and effort to practice [his speech]. He is also currently learning how to ride a horse.”

He also added, “As this is the first time that Yoochun is challenging acting, he is feeling both excited and worried at the same time. He is quite distressed over his own role and is in the midst of preparing himself well. We hope that everyone will look forward to and support his performance.”

Ahead of their Japanese fanmeeting concert coming June, it is known that Dong Bang Shin Ki Xiah JunSu, Micky YooChun and Hero JaeJoong will promote under the nickname of ‘J.Y.J’.

Previously an official announcement came that the group will discontinue their activities as Dong Bang Shin Ki after the 3 members’ discord with their agency SM Entertainment. And coming 5th June, the 3 members will hold a large scale fanmeeting concert in Tokyo Dome, and they will be holding the concert as ‘J.Y.J’ made up of the initials of each of the members.

A representative of the 3 members revealed on 19th May, “Ahead of their event, AVEX has decided to go with ‘J.Y.J’ for the logo for the concert. Q: With the recording and promotions for your single [XIAH], your solo activities have officially started. How does this feel?

JS: I’m nervous as there are a lot of things that I am trying for the first time, but I’m also very happy. I believe that this opportunity will give me a chance to show everyone a side of me that I have never shown before.

Q: The title track for this single is “Intoxication”, which is quite a cool dance song.

JS: It was selected from a couple of songs that I wrote for my solo debut, and I produced it as well. I wanted to give it a more R&B feel.

Q: What was the process of the song-writing and production like?

JS: First, I looked at the rhythm of the song, which is the most important for a dance tune. The rhythm must be one that makes you feel like dancing, even before adding the rest of the instruments. Then, I used this feeling to produce the song. The melody of the chorus came into my mind first, and using that as a focal point, I created the rest of the song, singing and writing at the same time.

Q: The lyrics for the song are quite mature!

JS: Yes, because we wanted to express a mature feeling through the song so there was a lot of focus on the breathing. In the PV, we also went for a wet hair look, completing the cool sexy image we wanted to produce, please look forward to it.

Wanting to show everyone XIAH’s music

Q: “Kanashimi no Yukue” (End of Sorrow) is a totally different song, a ballad.

JS: The instrumentation of this song contains only the piano and strings, and has no other instruments or harmony. I wanted everyone to be touched by the meaning of the lyrics of the song.

Q: The song’s lyrics are about the feelings when leaving the one you love, is there a part of the song that you especially feel for?

JS: “Shiawase wa Owaru yori Kawaru houga Bokuni wa samishii.”(Trans: Happiness to me, compared to ending, change is even lonelier.) If the reason for breaking is due to circumstances, then in this situation, as long as there is still love then there will still be hope. But if it is a change of heart, then you can only accept this, and that is truly the end.

Q: This kind of song lyric should have a lot of meaning and feeling in it, it should be rather difficult to understand and express this?

JS: It’s difficult…but since I’ve always been doing this, I guess I’m used to it. (Laughs)

Q: This song gets stronger towards the end, and this leaves a deep impression on people.

JS: Even though it may not express the actual storyline in the lyrics, but the song needs to create this kind of atmosphere. Via the song, we want to people feel the content of the drama, so we added some changes.

Q: “Kimi Ga Ireba ~Beautiful Love~ is also a very different kind of Ballad.

JS: “Kanashimi no Yukue” is ultimately a sad ballad, while “Kimi ga Ireba ~Beautiful Love~ is more tumultuous, and is a ballad that ends hopefully, so it presents a different kind of emotion.

Q: Lastly, please talk about what else you plan to challenge in the future?

JS: There are many things, but firstly I wish to show people a performance that truly belongs to “XIAH.” I will also work harder on song writing, so please look forward to it.

[TRANS] 100519 TV PIA MAGAZINE – Yunho: “I Am A Hardworking Person”

Yunho starred in the television drama [No Limit~ Heading To The Ground], and took up the challenge of portraying the character of Bong Gun, who is passionate yet constantly gets into trouble.

“Bong Gun is someone who is very innocent. Even when he faces an obstacle, and it is very tough, he will work very hard to overcome the obstacle, and in the process of it, mature at the same time. This is quite similar to my own life experience and that was why I wanted to try out for this character. I also met up with numerous obstacles and challenges before my debut, but I always believed that I would make it on stage one day, and this belief is very similar to that of Bong Gun’s.”

Through this drama, I had a deeper understanding of the differences between being a singer and being an actor.

“A singer has to be able to let the audience experience a range of emotions with about three minutes of music. However, in a drama, we have to work closely together with the crew, and from the first to the sixteenth episode, be able to act out the character in such a convincing way that it will allows the audience to see him grow and mature. As this is my first television drama, feeling anxious is inevitable, but I am glad I was able to act out the character of Bong Gun, who matured as the drama progressed. I feel that I have grown myself. Even though the filming has ended, Bong Gun still lives in my heart.”

The character is a soccer player, and so, in order to play out the character well, Yunho would play the sport as often as he can when he has the time.

“I would play soccer with the crew during break or resting times, and would practice stopping the ball amongst other skills. I enjoyed myself a lot as I like soccer myself. Also, as most of the moves are pretty special, we often had to re-take a couple of times before we succeeded. It was really tough, and I hope everyone will pay more attention to those parts. Bong Gun has a soccer player whom he looks up to, and as for me, I like Argentina’s Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Also, this year is the World Cup, and Asia is on a strong momentum; if Korea and Japan were to determine the victory, it would be great.”

Seeing a happy expression on his face as he talked about soccer really left a deep impression on us.
Furthermore, when asked if he will take on more challenging roles as an actor after this performance, he replied confidently, “I want to continue to act different roles like that of a villain; something that is not just limited to the image of “Uknow Yunho”. I hope for everyone to see me in different portrayals of different characters. My strength is that I would take up any challenge passionately, because I am a hardworking person. It doesn’t take talent alone to succeed. Michael Jackson was actually a very hardworking person too.” He also mentioned later that he really likes Michael Jackson.

The new drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ which will be released during the second half of the year has already been sold to Japan for USD$4.83 million even before its airing in Korea.

The producer of ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ stated that, “On 18th May, Avex Japan has decided to buy each episode at an estimated USD$120 thousand, which totals up to USD$4.83 million”.

An unscreened drama, which has attracted a lot of attention from the overseas market, is very rare; therefore both popularity of Micky YooChun in Asia and the perfectly planned ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ has once again been proven in Japan. Once the news of Micky YooChun starring in ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ as the main lead was released, it was then reported in all of the major media stream in Japan, which had become the focus.

Avex Japan expressed, “SKKS is the first debut drama by Dong Bang Shin Ki’s Micky YooChun in Korea, not only Japan but all of Asia are fighting to get the broadcasting rights”.

A historical drama based on the popular novel ‘The Lives of SungKyunKwan Confucian Scholars’. This is the first ever drama that describes the background story of Confucian scholars. Other than Micky YooChun, Song JoongKi will also be in this drama, to start filming in May and to be released during the second half of the year on KBS.

[TRANS] 100519 SM's Application To "Enhance" "Dong Bang Shin Ki" As A Trademark Has Been Withdrawn

SM, the company which manages DBSK, has been informed about its withdrawal regarding its trademark application for the name "Dong Bang Shin Ki".

SM, who had applied for the trademark application for "DBSK" to the Patent Office in August last year, later withdrew their application towards the end of the year.

A SM spokesperson cleared the issue with Newsen on the 19th over the phone, stating that "it is a fact that we withdrew the trademark application for the name "DBSK" late last year" and "[we hereby also] announce that the enhanced document is also withdrawn.".

While the trademark application is currently cancelled, one cannot rule out the possibility that SM might once again apply for the enhancement of the trademark name of "DBSK".
